MEET THE ARTIST
I'm Jessica, and I'm a 22-year-old freelance portrait photographer from Frisco, TX. I love being able to capture a moment in time and I put my all into my photos so that you are satisfied with them all. I grew a passion for portrait photography because to me, capturing human emotion is one of the most beautiful things. I graduated from the University of North Texas with a B.F.A. in Art Education and two minors in Art History and Psychology, allowing me to pursue my dream of becoming a middle school art teacher starting this fall. I love helping students express themselves through different mediums of art and watch them grow, the same way my former art teachers did for me. Without them, I would not be where I am today. I want to continue expressing myself through my love of art and inspire others to do the same, and I hope to combine my creative and teaching practices to create something new. |
BACKSTORY + A BIT MORE ABOUT MY WORK I've always been surrounded by all things related to art. Growing up a very shy kid, I used art as a means of self-expression. I spent most of my free time drawing and painting whatever came to my mind. I then discovered VSCO, which opened my eyes to the world of photography, but it wasn't until 2017 when I got my first camera and discovered my passion for portrait photography. I was heavily inspired by the works of Jessica Kobeissi, Kelsey Maggart, and more.
What started as simple portraits of my friends, turned into something more. Photography became my creative outlet. I've never been the best at putting my thoughts into words, I turn them into art. I have these cool concepts that I need to get out of my head and bring to life. Not all of my shoots have a significant concept behind them, and they don't have to. Sometimes it's just for the fun of it and to get to create. And that's the thing about art, there is no right or wrong to it. Through my photography I have been able to see the world in a different way. I enjoy having this ability to bring ideas and concepts to life. It's what keeps me motivated to continue my journey. I hope to inspire others to pursue their passions and bring their creativity to life. |
